Best paired with crispy, golden chat potatoes and a glass of your go-to red, these lamb skewers are easy to make and are loaded with flavour — a family crowd-pleaser perfect for lunch or dinner.

For Lamb Skewers:

  • 500g lamb leg or shoulder, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Wooden skewers, soaked in water for at least 30 minutes

For Chat Potatoes:

  • 500g baby chat potatoes, halved
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For Yogurt Sauce:

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh mint, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Lamb Skewers:

  1. In a bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, smoked paprika, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Add the lamb cubes to the marinade, ensuring they are evenly coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or for better results, refrigerate for a few hours.
  3. Preheat the grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Thread the marinated lamb cubes onto the soaked skewers.
  5. Grill the lamb skewers for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are cooked and have a nice char on the outside.

Chat Potatoes:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  2. In a bowl, toss the halved chat potatoes with olive oil, dried rosemary, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until well coated.
  3. Spread the potatoes on a baking sheet in a single layer.
  4. Roast in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the potatoes are golden brown and crispy on the edges.

Yogurt Sauce:

  1. In a small bowl, mix together Greek yogurt, chopped mint, chopped parsley, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Adjust the seasoning according to your taste.

Serve:

  1. Arrange the grilled lamb skewers on a serving platter alongside the roasted chat potatoes.
  2. Drizzle the yogurt sauce over the lamb skewers or serve it on the side as a dipping sauce.
  3. Garnish with additional fresh herbs for a burst of color and freshness.
