Tasting Notes

Australian Tawny displays a beautiful caramel treacle colour. The enticing aromas of spicy fruit cake and raisins captivate the senses from the first whiff. On the palate, this fortified wine delivers a luscious and intense experience, with flavours of caramel and aged rancio shining through. The blending of mature and younger wines creates a harmonious balance, while the wood maturation amplifies the richness and intensity of the wine. The sweetness is elegantly counterbalanced by the drying sensations derived from extended oak barrel aging. The finish is long, spicy, and lingering.

Food Pairings

Australian Tawny is the traditional after dinner wine, pairing beautifully with rich chocolate cake and double cream. Perfect on its own in front of an open fire!

This Australian Tawny is meticulously crafted through the solera system, where it is bottled as required. It is a blend of numerous vintages of Tawny fortified wine, each aged in large old oak vats. The artful combination of mature and younger wines results in a harmonious balance of flavors, while the maturation in wood imparts a heightened richness and intensity to the wine. Through extended aging in oak barrels, the sweetness of the Tawny is elegantly counterbalanced by the drying sensations, adding depth and complexity. This intricate blend beautifully showcases the richness of Shiraz and the softness of Grenache, accompanied by carefully integrated quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, Mataro, and other select varieties.
