Facts 1 - 5
Cienna was created by the CSIRO in 1972 to suit the Australian climate.
It is a crossing of the Sumoll and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties.
It was named after the colour Sienna due to its red hue.
With Brown Brothers love of innovation and ideas, we released our first bottle of this unique variety in 2000.
Brown Brothers Cienna 2017 is a light wine with a vibrant ruby red colour. It displays aromas of fresh red berry fruit and a hint of spice and a finish that is slightly fizzy.
Facts 6 - 10
In summer, it’s a refreshing beverage to enjoy chilled.
In winter, it can be made into delicious warming Gluhwein or mulled wine.
Cienna is a terrific base ingredient for baked goodies such as puddings and brownies.
It also makes for a fun twist on classic cocktails such as Cosmopolitans or Sangria.
It is versatile enough to pair with everything from spicy hot pots to a mouth watering crushed meringue with fresh mixed berries smothered in raspberry coulis.
