Filled with raspberry and spice aromas this Single Block Pinot Noir is an elegantly balanced wine from the Tamar Valley.
The wine is made from a single Pinot Noir clone nestled from block 28 in our Kayena vineyard. This clone is identified as having unique qualities and complexity nurtured within the Tasmania cold climate.
The 2017 vintage will age gracefully, making it the perfect wine to enjoy now or save for that special occasion.
Recommended food pairings: Serve with beef shin risotto and wild mushrooms or a selection of washed rind cheeses with pepper lavosh.
Growing Conditions: Pinot Noir from block 28 on our Kayena vineyard located in the Tamar Valley. A single clone was chosen for this wine called the D4V2 or Pommard clone. This clone is known for its vibrant colour, generous fruit and balance.
Winemaker: Tom Wallace
Winemaking notes: Fruit was destemmed and left to cold soak for several days prior to ferment. Fermentation then took place in open fermenters with regular plunging. Once dry, the ferment was pressed off to barrel using a basket press. Malolactic fermentation and maturation took place over 12 months in French oak barriques with approx. 16% new oak used. It was bottled with an alcohol of 14.0%, a TA of 6.3g/l and a pH of 3.53.
