Maximum 1 bottle per order due to limited stock available.

The Patricia wines are made in honour of the family matriarch Patricia Brown. The range is a culmination of the very best in viticulture and winemaking.

The 2015 Patricia Chardonnay is an elegant style balancing natural acidity with intense fruit flavour. It combines two vineyards from the Tamar Valley in the north and one on the east coast of Tasmania. These vineyards experience cool ripening conditions, contributing to a tight style.

95 points, 2019 Halliday Wine Companion
“It’s fleshy with flavour but sizzling with acidity; creamy oak doing its best to bring it all together. Peach, citrus, honey and sweet milk flavours put on a seductive show, though another year or two in bottle will lift it a notch higher.”

Description

Vineyard Region: Tasmania
Wine Analysis: Alc/Vol: 13.5%
Colour: The wine shows a vibrant straw colour with a slight green hue.
Aroma: The nose is complex with aromas of stone fruits, cashews, citrus and pear.
Palate: The palate is elegant with minerally characters, struck match complexity and lingering stone fruit flavours. It is a crisp wine with well balanced acidity, oak, and layers of intrigue.
Peak Drinking: Until 2025

Recommended food pairings: For the summer months the 2015 Patricia Chardonnay would be perfect with BBQ Cajun salmon with a mango salsa. During winter try it with jamon and truffle baked gnocchi. It is also the perfect accompaniment to a ripe brie cheese and slices of pear.

Growing Conditions: The fruit was harvested during March and April of 2015 at baumé levels ranging from 12.5 to 13.5.

Winemaker: Tom Wallace

Winemaking notes: The fruit was hand picked and whole bunch pressed to minimise phenolic extraction. All components completed fermentation in barrel and to add complexity 100% of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation. The wine spent 11 months in a combination of new (25%), and seasoned French oak barriques with the lees continually stirred to ensure complexity and refinement. The wine was bottled with an alcohol of 13.5%, a pH of 3.25 and an acid level of 7.51 g/L.

Critics’ tasting notes

  1. “Still finding its feet (as a 3yo) but the components here are top notch. It’s fleshy with flavour but sizzling with acidity, creamy oak doing its best to bring it all together. Peach, citrus, honey and sweet milk flavours put on a seductive show, though another year or two in bottle will lift it a notch higher.”
