It is the pinnacle of our Cienna grapes from the historical Mystic Park vineyard in the Swan Hill district of North West Victoria.
The wine is packed with blackberry and Raspberry flavours as well as integrated vanilla oak on the back palate. The Cienna Gold is fermented further than the original Cienna giving the wine a balanced finish.
Recommended food pairings: The Cienna Gold requires food of richness and elegance. Peking Duck with a cranberry sauce on bok choy would be fantastic. Try it with a spicy Chinese hot pot and enjoy how the sweetness of the wine eases the heat of chilli and spice.
Growing Conditions: Cienna is an exciting grape variety bred by the CSIRO Plant Industry by crossing Sumoll, a grape variety from Spain, with Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is the reserve selection of Cienna grown from our Mystic Park vineyard in the Murray Valley of north-west Victoria. The fruit was harvested in April at baumé levels ranging from 13.2 to 13.8.
Winemaker: Geoff Alexander
Winemaking notes: The Cienna Gold spent a short period of time in oak to fill the middle palate and add vanilla flavours. It was bottled soon after fermentation with an alcohol of 9.5%, a pH of 3.49 and acid level of 6.1g/L
