This 2015 Single Block Pinot Noir is our second release, harnessing a select block and clone of Pinot Noir to showcase its attributes.

Growing Conditions: Pinot Noir from block 21 on our Kayena vineyard located in the Tamar Valley. A single clone was chosen for this wine called the MV6 or Mother Vine 6. This clone is known for its low yields, generous colour and structured tannins.
Winemaker: Tom Wallace
Winemaking notes: Fruit was destemmed and left to cold soak for several days prior to ferment. Fermentation then took place in open fermenters with regular plunging. Once dry, the ferment was pressed off to barrel using a basket press. Malolactic fermentation and maturation took place over 12 months in French oak barriques with approx. 30% new oak used. It was bottled with an alcohol of 14.1%, a TA of 6.57g/l and a pH of 3.53.
“MV6 clone from the Kayena vineyard, 5 days cold soak, wild yeast-open fermented, matured for 12 months in French barriques (30% new). Light crimson; there is no mention of whole bunch use, but the powerful savoury tannins that permeate the long palate seem to have at least some whole bunch origins. Red fruits stand up to the tannins.”
