The Patricia wines are made in honour of the family matriarch Patricia Brown. The range is a culmination of the very best in viticulture and winemaking.
Four vineyards were used into this 2013 Patricia Shiraz blend from the warmer northern Heathcote region to the cooler Henty region in the south west of Victoria. The wine displays a concentrated palate of dark berry fruits with pepperry spice and persistent savoury notes.
Recommended food pairings: This wine would make an ideal partner to grilled venison loin and a wild rice pilaf. Or why not try it with a Szechwan pepper crusted scotch fillet of beef with a pear and parmesan salad. The Patricia Shiraz is also fantastic with wash rind cheeses.
Growing Conditions: The grapes for our 2013 Patricia Shiraz were sourced from a number of vineyards throughout Victoria including Henty 41%,our own Heathcote Vineyard 22%, Strathbogie Ranges 21% and Dinnings 16% in the King Valley. The fruit was harvested in parcels from late February to early April at baumés between 13.2 and 14.2.
Winemaker: Geoff Alexander
Winemaking notes: A portion of the wine finished fermenting in barrels, then all parcels spent 18 months in 60% new French (25%) and American (35%) oak with the balance in older oak barriques and puncheons before bottling. The wine was bottled with an alcohol of 14.5%, pH of 3.5 and an acid level of 6.5g/L.
“A powerhouse of colour and flavour, with its black fruit profile, licorice, dried herbs and spice rack of aromas yet surprisingly supple tannins; just shy of full-bodied. Good to feel the restraint with chalky raspberry sorbet-like acidity. Very fresh.”
