With a passion for wine and an even greater passion for winemaking, Cate joined the Brown Brothers team in 2005.
In 1998 she was awarded the Ron Potter Scholarship which led her to the Charles Sturt University commercial winery where she worked as a trainee winemaker while studying externally.
In 2000 she got the travel bug and headed to the United States where she completed a vintage at the California Hartford Court Winery in Sonoma – renowned for their premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Heavily influenced by what she discovered about making good Pinot Noir, she was appointed Assistant Winemaker at Scotchman’s Hill (Geelong, Victoria) after graduating with a Bachelor of Applied Science – Wine Science.
After two years she was appointed winemaker but a desire to work with of the industry’s most innovative wine varietals brought her to Brown Brothers in 2005.
Cate is currently responsible for a diverse portfolio of wines, including reds, whites, sparkling and the multi award winning Patricia Noble Riesling.
