Accolades for Patricia’s quiet achiever

ACCOLADES FOR PATRICIA’S QUIET ACHIEVER

Near perfect growing conditions and five years aging time have combined to make one of the ‘quiet achievers’ of the revered Brown Brothers Patricia range one of the highlights of the 2010 releases.

Patricia Cabernet Sauvignon (RRP $55.90) has been one of the range’s most consistent performers since its inception, having ‘missed the cut’ under the family-owned company’s strict selection policy only once since its first vintage in 2000.

The 2005 release is no exception and accordingly, the wine has received plenty of accolades, claiming Gold at the Royal Adelaide and Royal Hobart Wine Shows, as well as the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards.

“Our aim was to produce a classically varietal Cabernet rather than yet another fruit bomb and I think we have well and truly achieved that,” said Brown Brothers CEO, Ross Brown.

“The vines and canopies really thrived on the early season rains that year, while the cool, dry conditions that followed encouraged the development of some fantastic fruit flavours, natural acidity and colour.

“The winemaking team has done a remarkable job in producing a wine of great structure and finesse,” he added.

Ross said after five years, the 2005 Patricia Cabernet Sauvignon was starting to show its full potential of classic Cabernet characters like blackcurrant, red berry and mint, while the French oak influence also offered a gentle ‘cedar lift’.

The 2010 suite of Patricia wine releases is available in fine wine outlets and restaurants around the country and also includes:

•    2005 Patricia Pinot Noir & Chardonnay Brut (RRP $44.90): made ‘Methode Champenoise’ from hand picked Whitlands fruit then rested for four years on its lees.

•    2006 Patricia Shiraz (RRP $55.90): a classic cool climate Shiraz with intense, dense, round, supple and ripe fruit balanced with integrated oak flavours.

•    2006 Patricia Noble Riesling (RRP $34.90): rich and elegant, this wine already has five trophies and seven Gold medals to its name.

This respected range of wines was launched in 2003 as a tribute to Brown Brothers’ much loved matriarch, Patricia. The range is a dedication to her and the love and commitment she gave her family and business for over 60 years.
